SUMMER UPDATE - MAY 28TH

OPEN GYMS

We will have our first open tomorrow at 7:00 am. Please try to be there by 6:45 am to help set up the nets. Your commitment to serving your team is seen through how you help prepare us for each practice. This is a vital part of who we are and what we are about. Your commitment to serving others is something we consider when evaluating your position in our program. 

Something to keep in mind, Central is having a complete gym floor repainting and sealing this summer. We are finalizing our schedule and may be using Grand Mesa or Bookcliff throughout mid-June and early July. The calendar will be updated accordingly. Please rely on it to make sure you are at the right gym. 

Weights will be held at Central so we will finish the open gym and then send you over to Central in time to participate. The strength coaches are prepared for this also.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Special Olympics Colorado hosts their Summer Games in Grand Junction every summer. We are committed to helping with the swimming events again this year. Here is a tentative schedule for the event. 

Friday - Opening Ceremonies - 7:30 pm - Not required but a really cool event. 

Saturday - Swimming - 7:00 am-3:00 pm - This is a situation where the more people we have, the better. It allows for breaks, teamwork, and a lot more collaboration with helping guide the athletes. We will work with a lot of the same people as last year. 

Sunday - 10:00 am-3:00 pm. 

GRAND VALLEY TOURNAMENT

This is held on Friday, June 28th and Saturday, June 29th at Grand Valley High and Middle School. We will have at least two teams participate in this event. Our staff is meeting this week and we will put together rosters for it. We might possibly have a third team if the numbers warrant this. Our goal is to go play as much volleyball as possible and learn more about each other. 

CSU TEAM CAMP

Dates - July 25-28

We will plan to leave on the afternoon of July 25th and return on the evening of July 28th. We are planning to take two teams of eight players. Invites will start going out soon and then will start the registration process with CSU. 

FUNDRAISING

We are finalizing a few fundraisers and will put those out there for everyone to know and volunteer for. We are looking at a car wash at Champion Xpress across the street from Central. 

We are also looking at possibly supporting another team at Country Jam if they need help. 

If someone has some ideas for some fun summer fundraisers, please let us know. We are open to ideas. 

This is an exciting time for us to grow and get prepared for the season. Our schedule is on the calendar and we will be updating the website with it soon.
